It’s often struck us how frequently the terms ‘video game writers’ and ‘writers for video games’ are misinterpreted.
“So you write the actual games?” is the stock response from those outside the industry (cue the look of disappointment on their faces when they discover otherwise!).
However, as we’ve already observed on these pages, there also seems to be an assumption within the industry that both terms necessarily refer to the role of a scriptwriter. This is more concerning for us as it ignores a whole swathe of the sector’s editorial requirements — and the core elements of our offering to video games clients.
It’s time to address that misunderstanding.
